Letter of the Day | Great feat by talented doctors

Published:Friday | July 3, 2020 | 12:15 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The surgical prowess of Dr Dwaine Cooke and team made front-page news in The Sunday Gleaner of June 28. I wish to convey congratulations to the entire management team of doctors, including Vincent Okpiavbe, Remona Miller, Kadeem Knight, Gary Sang and Korah Thompson-Norman from Dr Dwight Webster and Professors Ren Holness and Ivor Crandon, supervisors of the DM Neurosurgery training programme at The University of the West Indies.

Kudos to your newspaper for giving prominence to the work of colleagues at the Kingston Public Hospital. It gives pride when former students excel. My late mentor and chief of surgery at Bustamante Hospital for Children, Dr William Dennis, was known to repeat that “talent is not learned but evolves from application through the Almighty”.

We encourage our talented colleagues in the health sector to continue to soar and surpass Jamaica’s expectations.
