Caribbean nationals and their struggles in England

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I would like to thank you for the article ‘Griots of the Windrush Generation’ by Prof Adekeye Adebajo in the Weekend Gleaner of April 9-11. As someone who lived in England for 45 years and now living in my original homeland Jamaica, since 2014, Prof Adebajo spoke a lot of truths!

I was hounded out of my job in 2012. Luckily for me, I used the experience as a wake-up call to get out of England before they could forcibly remove me.

The article opened my eyes to what motivated my employer to act in such a manner. Now I know! I would liken the policy of the British Government at that time to Hitler’s ‘Nazi Germany’.

I am glad to be back here in Jamaica – the land of sunshine and breadfruit! Let them keep their England, because “Jamaica is no problem”.
