Please fulfil your promise to Spring Village, Mr PM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

We the residents of the Spring Village community in St Catherine would like to remind Prime Minister Andrew Holness of his promise to us in the 2023 Budget. We are cognisant of the office you hold and the mountain of issues you have to deal with, but you made us a promise to fix the bridge that leads to the Spring Village community.

The bridge was not an election promise but one given in the Budget. We note that there has been funds allocated to assist persons affected by flood damages. We have seen repairs to roads in neighbouring communities and across the parish. And so many other things being done after our bridge promise was made.

Mr Prime Minister, we know you to be a man of your word. You have fulfilled promises in the past. We are mindful that you are human, and with the myriad of promises on your desk, it is possible for you to forget or for our bridge to get overlooked.

It has been an extremely difficult period since we lost the access to travel on our smooth asphalted road. The alternate road to the community of Spring Village is travelling through the community of Nightingale Grove. But, Mr Holness, the Nightingale Grove road is an indictment on a donkey track. It has some dreadful potholes and is a dust nuisance.

Sir, we the residents of Spring Village, and we speak also for our neighbours in Nightingale Grove whose track we are borrowing, are suffering. We would be delighted and grateful if you could fulfil or even start work on the promise before the local government elections.

Please sir, we call upon you as our prime minister to deliver on the promise.
