Why Kamala is the right choice for the US

THE EDITOR, Madam:

After watching the ‘debate’ between Donald Trump, who lied incessantly and repeated himself, and Joe Biden, who was mostly incoherent or mumbling, if ever there were a perfect time for revolutionary, positively disruptive politics in the United States, it is now.

The US is facing a very serious choice of maintaining its position of international stature as the most powerful country in the world in terms of creativity, wealth and peacekeeping capability, which it is rapidly losing because of its consideration of a second term of president for Trump or Biden both of whom are over the hill.

America is ripe and ready to choose a president who is:

1. A solid, committed Democrat who will uphold and defend the strength of the US democracy;

2. A woman who brings strength of character and sympathy to understanding the special needs of women and girls in society;

3. An immigrant who has risen up the ranks of power as a committed representative of those seeking justice in society;

4. Intellectually accomplished, and this has been earned by her solid achievements;

5. A woman of colour who represents the mixture of races and backgrounds that represents the brightest and best, as well as the majority of Americans in 2024;

6. A representative of the 50 plus age group of Americans who now wield the most power in terms of wealth , influence, talent, leadership and adaptability.

7. A far cry from the octogenarian candidates currently proposed by both the Democrats and Republicans who displayed to the world for all to see their incompetence to lead a country as great as the US.

Kamala Harris is the best choice for the United States.
