What a weekend it has been! From the VMAs to crowning a new beauty queen, to the fight of the century, we have all the highlights in today's Weekend Shenanigans.

Fight night

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor gave fight fans the fight of the century in Las Vegas on Friday night. Sports bars and lounges across the island were jam packed, and for many the match that attracted the highest purse in boxing history did not disappoint. As many sports pundits predicted, Mayweather employed his usual tactic and came out victorious in the 10th round.

New beauty queen

Twenty-one year-old Davina Bennett walked away with the crown in the grand coronation of Miss Universe Jamaica at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel on Saturday night. Standing five feet, nine inches tall, Bennett had many who woke up to the news on Sunday morning thinking the judges got it right. We wish her all the best and hope the Miss Universe crown will finally grace our shores.

Taylor's reputation

Taylor Swift has finally ended speculation, announcing her new album via social media last week, and had her single 'Reputation' premier at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. Her fans could not be happier, and her midas touch has her breaking records on multiple streaming platforms. Guess her 'Reputation' is still intact.

VMAs

Kathy Perry tried her hand at hosting Sunday's VMAs, and social media was not kind. They claimed her numerous jokes fell flat and she should stick to singing. Pink got the Micheal Jackson Video Vanguard Award, but many are saying it was one of the most boring VMAs they have seen in a while.

Tropical Storm Harvey

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas last Friday before being downgraded to a tropical storm, but that did not minimise the damage. With meteorologists predicting that the system will not be going anywhere anytime soon, sections of the state are already seeing record flooding and thousands have had to be rescued from their homes. The images are heartbreaking and we continue to pray for those affected.
