SAGICOR LIFE Jamaica recently launched an all-encompassing health and wellness initiative geared towards encouraging Jamaicans to practise mental, physical, and financial wellness.

The Sagicor Wellness Hub is an innovative online platform that hosts a suite of health and wellness support applications and specialised programmes, tools, tips and rewards designed to assist both clients and members of the public to improve their quality of life. It provides access to workout videos led by Sagicor’s Wellness Ambassador Shani McGraham-Shirley, meditation playlists, wellness information, discounted gym memberships for clients, and the Sagicor Connect application which aids persons in managing their insurance.

The hub also features Sagicor Engage, an interactive, gamified mobile application that provides informational classes and tips on maintaining good financial, mental, and physical wellness to clients. Through this app clients are rewarded for their efforts in improving their well-being.

Willard Brown, executive vice-president, Sagicor Life – Employee Benefits Division, said the wellness initiative is intended to motivate Jamaicans to recognise and act on the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

“As the leading health insurance provider in the island, we know the impact of lifestyle choices on the health and wellness of our clients. The Sagicor Wellness Hub and the activations associated with the ‘Do It For You’ campaign is Sagicor’s response to the prevalence of non-communicable diseases in our society and its impact on Jamaicans; we want to encourage persons to make better lifestyle choices when it comes to their well-being,” he said.

According to Brown, in the past three years Sagicor has seen an increase in persons affected by non-communicable diseases, namely, acute upper respiratory infection conditions, hypertension, abdominal pain, acute sinusitis, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. He urged persons to be intentional about self-care and managing the impact of stressors in their daily lives.

“Making better lifestyle choices positively impacts the individual, causes an increase in productivity, reduces the stress on the healthcare sector and leads to a better Jamaica. The Sagicor wellness initiative is about us working together to achieve our individual and collective goal for a healthier Jamaica. Your financial, physical and mental well-being are paramount in ensuring you live a fulfilled life,” Brown said.
