It was a ‘Pinktober’ affair at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel last Thursday for the Sagicor Foundation-powered Keeping Abreast Concert and Conversation. The virtual event and annual Breast Cancer Awareness month fundraiser was held in support of the Jamaica Cancer Society and was streamed live for viewers to enjoy. It featured an informative and engaging conversation around breast cancer. Dubbed ‘A Survivor’s Story’, Chelan Smith, lifestyle blogger and social media specialist, shared her journey from her discovery and breast cancer diagnosis to now being cancer-free. Joining in the conversation was Dr Danielle Smellie, haematologist and medical oncologist at The Hope Institute. The event was hosted by Debbie Bissoon, with entertainment from songbirds Jodian Pantry and Alaine and saxophonist Verlando Small.
