Even as Diane Brown rocked her best body, the words of others affected her self-esteem and self-worth. Now, she is helping other queens to love and take care of themselves.

Active in her approach to life, Dianne Brown took the fundamentals she learned in her modelling career and applied them to fitness. She currently works with women 200 pounds and over to actualise their wellness dreams.

“Dobfitness (DOB) has a very hands-on programme approach, with tons of support and accountability. Through our super interactive online community, our queens experience motivation and encouragement from fellow queens across the globe,” she told Lifestyle.

Her relationship with fitness is a long-term commitment: eating well and moving consistently plays a huge role in her lifestyle. Spending a third of her life on the runway, she discovered that even as a stunning and petite model with a sought-after physique, others had a lot to say, which affected her self-esteem and self-worth. “Living in a body you don’t love can feel like wearing an outfit that doesn’t look right or feel right, but you can’t take off,” she reflected. With this mindset, she became the change she needed to see in herself and the world, so she created Dobfitness.

LIFE CHANGING

The wellness programme includes weekly 45-minute workout sessions that explores cardio, strength training, Zumba and yoga sessions, all via Zoom. But what really separates Dobfitness from the average gym is the nutrition coaching involved. “Instead of just sending a meal plan, we actually teach women how to make great food decisions that serve their body and health. It’s a skill they develop for life,” she said.

Creating this life-changing experience specifically for women gives her the unique ability to transform them from the outside in. “I think every woman should be able to smile when she looks in the mirror. You would be amazed at how losing just 10 pounds can drastically change how a woman sees herself and, ultimately, how she [shows] up in the world,” Brown added.

According to the fitness coach, being online-based is super convenient and gives the women the freedom to focus on themselves rather than be consumed by traffic, parking, sporting the latest gym threads or going through the uncomfortable stares from men. And the backing of lifestyle changes from the DOB community is all the motivation queens need to get in a healthy formation. Last year alone, the team lost 187.5 pounds together, with the biggest ‘loser’ shedding 55 pounds. Despite the industry being male-dominated, Brown is quite proud of the steps being taken by her ladies.

“Seeing my queens transform into radiant, confident and strong women is everything for me. The look on their faces when they can put on pants they haven’t worn since they had the baby is priceless. I had a session with my morning queens, and I was celebrating them for their improved push-ups. It may seem like a small thing, but they started out barely being able to do six knee push-ups, and now they’re doing as many as 15 full push-ups. Being able to see those types of transformations and improvements is extremely rewarding,” she asserted.

Her goal is to one day create a huge online space where women can feel safe, loved and supported as they become their best selves. She would love to teach women the importance of putting themselves first. “We often leave ourselves last after work, the kids, our husbands, the house, the garden. I want to help women take back their power by simply taking care of themselves.”

Set on completing her life coach certification internationally this year, she hopes that this step will equip her with the skills to take Dobfitness to the next level and help women to better manage and excel in every facet of their lives.
