Some 2,400 years ago, a Greek physician named Hippocrates, known as the “Father of Medicine” and whose oath is still recited by graduating doctors, aptly stated that “Nature is the best physician.”

There are substantial, curative benefits derived from living among the wonders of the natural world, enabling a state of optimum physical and mental well-being for those of us who choose to do so.

The spirit of adventure has lured us unwittingly to this dreamscape, where our very being is held captive by the earthly experience of the sights, sounds, and smells of being in an enchanted forest. But there is more, much more to this wild outdoor fantasy habitat that screams excitement!

Yes, my friends, nature has indeed also gifted this secluded five-acre tract in Lime Hall, St Ann, with its own glass-like, private river with waterfalls and wading pools, along with two springs - welcoming you to take a dip. All of this, with countless birds, including the yellow-billed parrot, chirping their melodies in concert with the rhythmic tones of the soothing, rushing river. Surrounded by the constant backdrop of towering 40-foot shade trees reaching for the heavens and nature trails to hike through. A true oasis of serenity, providing inner peace to all those who have been touched by the marvel of it all!

DREAM TO REALITY

For 10 long years, this hospitality professional and mentor to others searched far and wide in various locations across Jamaica for a house site with a river flowing through it. Three years ago, he found and bought it. This was his dream from childhood, and now he would build his getaway home. His wife, a trained educator and instructor, would share his dream and help drive it to its final destination.

The cottage (with a cabin feel) is a modest concrete structure clad on the exterior with the warmth of wood. The floor that resembles wood planks is actually porcelain tiles. Cedar from the land was utilised throughout for interior construction.

The 1,200 square feet of relaxed interior space is shared by two bedrooms. There is a full bathroom and a wood-beamed, open–roof, outdoor rain shower, and a basin area right off the main bedroom. Open–plan living, dining, and kitchen follow. The porch allows you to share special moments with the fluvial landscape.

The furnishings and décor are consistent with the rustic environment, with bamboo furniture and sculptured driftwood pieces.

In a world of uncertainty, this much is certain: having a river on your property adds significant value to both you and the real estate itself.
