The glowing ‘scent-sation’ of Bumble Beauty
A few years ago, Geena Munroe found herself in a bit of an eczema dilemma. After trying just about everything to relieve the painful and chronic areas, she decided to turn to a familiar source: honey. Her father owned Ma’Honey Jamaica Limited, so it couldn’t hurt to test one more theory.
“I had always heard of the great benefits of honey for eczema. I decided to experiment and do some DIYs (do it yourselves), and it slowly started to soothe my eczema,” Munroe told Flair. A few months later, she decided to take things more seriously and transition from passion to profession by becoming certified in natural skincare. Making and formulating a body butter and body scrub designed to hydrate the skin and control the eczema, was all the gratification she needed to build a reputable brand.
Home-made oils
Bumble Beauty, the honey-based skincare brand, prides itself on producing organic and home-made oils and butters, and the brand’s primary aim is to provide hydrated and beautifully glowing skin. Since being on the market for the past two years, Bumble Beauty has expanded from three scents to six – honey, san san, eleuthera, white sand, wake and citrus scents. The most popular one to date is san san, a beachy blend of coconut, pineapple, guava, and a range of other tropical fruits.
“Everyone goes crazy for the body butters. People love them so much because they smell amazing. They have a smooth texture that instantly absorbs into the skin, leaving you smooth and hydrated. On top of that, it is the holy grail for dry skin,” CEO Dee Dee Lyew said.
Special occasions call for a celebration with limited editions. And last Valentine’s Day, clients were introduced to the plush Rose Collection. “Rose is such a classic, clean scent. We made that collection very light and subtle; rosy but not overbearing. Everyone who got their hands on it, loved it,” Lyew revealed.
The team is hoping to create and produce other significant ‘scent-sations’ for noteworthy occasions, setting sights on overall expansion. “We hope to eventually have no limitations with regard to who has access to our products,” she said, adding, “While we are working on our website and outlets, we hope to one day be in all major retail stores in the Caribbean and be able ship easily all over the world. We’re looking to become a household name!”
