They say parting is such sweet sorrow because sometimes it takes saying goodbye to bring about an unexpected hello. On Tuesday, July 15, 2013, Moya Henry’s friends invited her to a going-away party of their friend, O’Shane Davidson, who had made the decision to migrate. While in attendance, she met the man of the hour, who would go on to be her friend, lover and happily ever after.

“When I saw Moya for the first time, I thought, ‘Wow, she’s sexy’, and her skin was as smooth as the word itself. As we got to talking, I became nervous and didn’t even realise that she was the very reason for my nervousness,” O’Shane told Island Wedding.

For Moya, the attraction from that chance meeting was mutual. Her first impression of him included how handsome he was. “It was as if a beam of light was shining down on him,” she added. She also found him to be quiet and shy.

The pair decided to get to know each other better by going out on a date that lasted close to six hours. The occasion was filled with joy and laughter. And Moya was happy to discover that they both had so much in common. The talk also included relaxing foot massages for her, and she enjoyed every minute of it, “We never wanted that night to end.” After that first date, O’Shane knew that she was made just for him.

Since embarking on a love journey together, O’Shane continues to marvel at his beloved’s captivating, creative, dependable and loving nature. “From day one, we started building something together. We have cruised together hand-in-hand through tough waters. She is patient and selfless. I can depend on her financially, emotionally, spiritually or physically. And I’m grateful that she has collaborated on creating a healthy foundation of shared dreams and passions. She has brought peace to my life and has been my other hand, clapping for my successes,” O’Shane shared.

Additionally, Moya has been the driving force behind O’Shane thinking more positively, growing in faith and becoming a better version of himself. “I fell in love with her honesty, and I love the way she makes me feel around her, as if no one else matters and I’m the only man in this world,” he added.

Describing her life partner as romantic, patient, caring, irreplaceable and amazing, Moya still can’t get over how full of love O’Shane is. “He makes me smile and laugh. He shows me that he values me enough to see beyond my faults, and is patient enough to accept them... . He encourages me to be myself. He is respectful, supportive, loyal, and communicates well, calling me five to 10 times daily just to check if I am alright,” she said.

Knowing in her bones that the moment she saw him he was the one, their first kiss was all the confirmation they needed. Every time they have been together since then, the feeling is always right.

After seven years of being together, O’Shane surprised Moya by asking her to marry him with a park proposal.

The two made their way to Lovers Park Beach in Montego Bay to witness the most beautiful sunset. While in the garden, he asked her to look at the sunset and picture their lives together. As she was there painting the perfect picture, he stayed behind her and waited until she turned around. She saw O’Shane on one knee with the ring in hand when she did.

“I said to her, “Moya, I’ll be your dream, you’re my wish, I’ll be your hope, you’ll be my fantasy, I’ll be your love, be your everything that you need. I love you more with every breath. I’ll be faithful and counting on our new beginning. You’re my reason for living. Babe, let’s put each other’s heart in each other’s hands and hold it for a lifetime.” She said yes and began to cry,” O’Shane shared.

The bride-to-be vetoed a wedding planner and instead received assistance from her family. With one party desiring a garden wedding, another party hoping for a church celebration and a young baby to raise in-between, the process was tiring, to say the least. But the couple came to a workable compromise.

As it relates to the quest for the ideal wedding dress, Moya almost gave up on the search. But, with the help of her chief bridesmaids, she said yes to a beautiful gown from Unions Bridal Boutique.

On August 8, Moya and O’Shane joined hands and hearts in holy matrimony. Family and friends gathered at the Faith Assembly of God in Portmore, St Catherine, to witness the beautiful ceremony. After exchanging vows, the newly-weds ended the nuptial celebrations with the wedding ceremony, going off into the garden to mark the grand occasion with a bridal photo shoot.

The excited bride confessed that there were no words to describe the emotions of that day, which still lingers in her mind and heart. “My bridal party made my day bright and my evening brighter. It was what I’ve hoped for and more,” she said.

Although he missed his mother and siblings, who were unable to fly down from overseas for the ceremony, the groom was happy that the big day was filled with love and joy, “It was amazing,” he said.
