Kimberly and Rayon said OkCupid and tied the knot
So you decide to put yourself out there and sign up on a dating app. You’ve filled out all the information and added pictures, after which you match with an interesting character. So what happens next? For Kimberly Campbell and Rayon Blake, who said okay to Cupid, their virtual encounter was only the beginning of the most enchanting chapter in their lives.
“We met during COVID-19 on a dating app called OkCupid and reconnected on Instagram. His approach was different, and I thought he was funny,” Kimberly recalled to Island Wedding.
Rayon shared similar sentiments with his soon-to-be beloved, revealing that, when they first met, he found her amusing. “She has a lovely sense of humour,” he added.
Similar to their unexpected introduction, their first date was equally surprising. “Our first date wasn’t normal. It started as a joke; I found it weird and interesting at the same time. We got food and went for a drive on the toll. To date, it’s still our best date in my books,” Kimberly explained.
Two weeks later, the pair was officially an item.
Kimberly shared that she admires her honey’s captivating, dependable, determined, authentic, humorous, thoughtful and caring nature. She is beyond grateful that he is the man she manifested and prayed for.
“He has helped me to grow into a happier, healthier, more loving and generous person.
He communicates well, listens to me and understands my feelings,” Kimberly said.
She also highlighted that he takes responsibility, is so encouraging, and gives tremendous emotional support: “My strength whenever I need a shoulder to lean on, he prays with me, and that’s most important.”
Rayon can’t get over how strong, resilient, loving, determined and caring his darling truly is. “She has motivated me to do more and be more, to reach levels I’ve never been before, both individually and in our relationship. Her caring and passionate nature help to steer our relationship in the right direction,” he said.
Whether it’s road trips or chilling and watching movies indoors, you can guarantee that this duo will make the most of spending quality time together.
So, when exactly did Kimberly realise that Rayon was the one for her? In the face of tragedy, he was her silver lining during her darkest moment.
“A little after we started dating, my grandaunt, who raised me from when I was three years old, passed away. And it was honestly his help that pulled me from the dark and heartbroken place I fell into. He was patient with my healing progress, and that’s when I knew that he was the man I wanted to continue life’s journey with,” she shared.
Rayon knew Kimberly was the one for him from the first conversation. So, after seven heavenly months of courtship, he asked his earth angel to be his wedded wife.
Naturally, the proposal carried along with it an element of surprise.
“I told her to get dressed and that we were going on a lunch date. When we got to Hope Gardens, I told her we were looking for a nice, chill spot. I spotted a trail, pointed her in the direction of some trees, [and] then got down on one knee. I then asked her what about this side towards me. While she was talking, she spun around, only to find me down on one knee, smiling from ear to ear with the ring box directly in her line of vision. She said yes before I could even finish the question,” he recounted.
For the big day, the couple enlisted the planning services of Let’s Talk Weddings Ja. Here’s what the bride-to-be had to say, “The planner, Shonick McFarlane, is awesome. She is amazing at her job and made what could be a stressful process very easy. She was calm throughout, no matter how many times I changed my mind about things,” she confessed with a laugh.
As it related to the show-stopping wedding dress, Kimberly said yes to a three-in-one original gown created by local designer Kadian Nicely.
On December 18, 2022, Kimberly and Rayon returned to the engagement location. Only, this time, they said ‘I do’ at Hope Zoo.
Mr and Mrs Blake described the wedding day as both beautiful and perfect. “The best moment, for me, was our first look. Also, having my father and granduncle walk me down the aisle and having persons who are important to me share in this milestone were priceless. Only my grandaunt was absent, but was there in spirit,” the bride said.
Ryann Darling’s I Choose You and Shayne Ward’s Breathless provided the idyllic soundtrack for the newly-weds’ first dance as husband and wife.
