Daneilia found the ‘whey’ to Duvaughn’s heart

Nothing beats a customer recommendation, and Duvaughn Dick always knew this. What he never saw coming was the stream of income leading him to the love of his life. In 2014, Daneilia Burton saw a young man, Deshawn, at the bus stop and asked about the whey protein powder in his hand for her friend. Although purchased at a store, he said he knew someone who sold it at a cheaper cost. He gave her his number, connected the two, and she reached out to the supplement distributor about the product. It wasn’t long before Danielia found the ‘whey’ to Duvaughn’s heart
“We believe we met by faith. I don’t know the person who recommended me, and she has never heard from him or seen him again. We surmise that he must have been an angel to bring us together,” Duvaughn told Island Wedding.
Daneilia gave further insight into their first encounter. “My friend, who was sick with Chik-V, shared an interest in working out and taking protein supplements. This sparked my curiosity to inquire about the protein. After Deshawn gave me his contact and messaged, he later sent me Duvaughn’s number. I messaged Duvaughn regarding the whey protein my friend wanted, and from there, that business transaction turned into a robbery when he stole my heart.”
Duvaughn explained that while he didn’t know much about her initially, he thought it was extremely nice of her to want to buy protein powder for her friend. A few months after they first met, Daneilia migrated to the United States, but the two remained in contact as friends. “We decided to enter into a relationship a few months after that via Skype, and we made it official when she came back to visit a year after she left,” he added.
He was huge, she first thought, adding that she also believed that his arms were fake because she had never before seen such a massive arm, let alone a pair. But after getting to know the man behind the muscles, she grew quite fond of him and sealed her feelings on their first date during her trip back to Jamaica, “On our first date, he took me to his favourite Indian restaurant, Tamarind Indian Cuisine, and then we went to get Devon House ice cream after.”
Kind, caring, supportive, and loving to others, he was always grateful to have his beautiful beloved by his side. “She is my best friend and my biggest supporter. She speaks confidence and success into my life, and she makes time for our quality time and iBble study, which is very important for us,” he said. He added, “Having her by my side makes me feel like I have the support and stability that allow me to go after and achieve my goals.”
Patient, kind, hard working, disciplined, and handsome, she is happy that Duvaughn remains devoted to encouraging and mentoring her to reach her goals. “He is my role model. I knew he was the one when I found out how compatible we were. I also sought the Lord for His direction, and he revealed to me that indeed, he was the one for me.”
He discovered that Daneilia was the one for him when he found himself talking to her throughout each and every day. “When I wasn’t talking to her, I found myself missing her, thinking about her, looking forward to calling her and talking to her more.”
Six years into their courtship, Duvaughn asked his best friend to be his wife.
“I initially wanted to pop the question on a trip to Barbados in July. But her grandmother had passed, and her whole family was here from the States for the funeral in June, so I decided to do it on that trip. It was kind of extreme to go from a sad situation to such a happy one. But the opportunity for her family to be a part of it was too golden to pass up,” he said.
He made plans to have the two of them pick up his parents from the airport to finally meet her family. That was at a restaurant, “I had our sisters decorate my living room to surprise her for a proposal when we would ‘detour’ to drop off the suitcases at home after the airport pick-up.”
As soon as they arrived home, the pair began talking about unpacking the trunk. This gave his parents time to go inside ahead of them and join the families on the inside. “When we went in, everyone was there. The place was decorated with balloons and lit words which said ‘Marry Me’. She saw everything and was so surprised. Then when she turned around, I was on one knee with the ring.” She, of course, said yes.
The soon-to-be-married couple planned the wedding with the assistance of family members and friends.
On December 10, 2022, Duvaughn and Daneilia joined hands and hearts in holy matrimony. The ceremony, which took place at the Boulevard Baptist Church, was officiated by the groom’s father, Reverend Devon Dick.
The newlyweds had the nuptial celebration on the 17th floor of The Jamaica Pegasus hotel at “The Talk of the Town”.
“The wedding was good overall. We got to make it official in the presence of God and our families and friends. The best moment for me was when we exchanged our vows. The reception was also good,” the bride said.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for bringing us together,” the groom said, sharing that having his and her loved ones there to celebrate their official union by God was the best part of the wedding day.
