Pulse Star Shantae in Gucci glamour for ‘Marie Claire’

Pulse star Shantae Leslie is in Gucci glamour mode for this month’s Marie Claire magazine. In a stunning 10-page editorial, the top model wears sophisticated, yet refreshingly approachable looks from the Italian mega brand collection, for the Australian edition of the high-fashion glossy.

The fashion story, entitled ‘New Nostalgia’, implores readers to make a fresh start with on trend pieces from the glamorous Gucci collection. Donning box braids and cool make up featuring medium brown lips, Leslie reflected a soft and delicate mood, but was adequately able to show off her energetic edge as the looks demanded.

In pencil skirts of varying lengths and both sleek and baggy pants with jackets, Leslie recounts a great time working on location in the heart of Sydney’s city centre. “It was a cold early morning shoot, but I loved the clothes and the styling, especially that long pink skirt, I enjoyed being able to rock such different pieces from a great designer,” said the model.

Leslie broke new ground as the one of the first models from Jamaica to make a huge impact on the world of fashion on the Australian continent. Leslie made her mark appearing in Vogue, nabbed multiple editorials for Marie Claire and stormed the runway for some of Australia’s finest designers.

The highly in-demand fashion star has been on the radar of the Australians since her international career began, during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We really love Shantae’s look and knew she would be perfect for our clients here. Leslie was discovered by Pulse’s director of fashion and lifestyle, Romae Gordon, at Clarendon College during Pulse’s school model search. The young star would go on to make an impressive start to her international career after winning the Caribbean Model Search TV show in 2019. For her first job, Leslie booked an exclusive for Prada and subsequently flew to Milan to walk in the collection for the famed design house. Named among the top new models in the world by models.com, Leslie’s client list, which includes Dior, Givenchy, Loewe, JW Anderson, Mui Mui and Valentino, among several others, continues to expand. New York and Barcelona are the next stops for the young model.
