Tami is haute, haute, haute!
If it’s late June, the international fashion calendar dictates it’s time for Parisian haute couture collections. Jamaican-descended A-list celebrities Jodie Turner-Smith, Kerry Washington and Naomie Harris were among the big names seated front row next to Oscar-winning actresses Michelle Yeoh and Cate Blanchett for the Fall Couture 2024 shows of exclusively designed custom-fits.
Luxury fashion houses Balenciaga, Chanel, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier and Schiaparelli prominently registered on the slate of more than 30 collections for the four-day blitz that ran from June 24 to 27, which had fashion insiders and watchers in a tizzy.
Flying from St Barth into the City of Lights from her island weekend assignment — the opening of a new Zimmermann boutique by the Australian fashion brand’s founders Nicky and Simone Zimmermann — SAINT International supermodel Tami Williams had a stacked list of runway bookings on her plate.
First up: Alexis Mabille’s Champagne-titled couture collection unveiled last Tuesday at the cabaret and burlesque show space, The Lido, in the French capital. The 46-year-old Frenchman presented a luxurious 41-piece showcase of sequins, jersey, satin, lamé, velvet, and crepe fabrics. On Wednesday, the Jamaican supermodel was in the line-up for Elie Saab’s Enchanted Serenade show held at Musee des Arts Decoratifs (The Museum of Decorative Arts), for which the Lebanese designer sent powder-red, emerald-green, moonlight-silver and black gowns down the catwalk.
Later on the same day, the SAINT strutted for designer Zuhair Murad’s sumptuously dramatic collection of tuxedo jacket dresses, leather-belted trench coats and metallic gowns that aced his show-stopping glamour signatures.
The booked and busy Williams closed out her fashionable run in France on Thursday with a turn for Guillame Henry’s Patou Spring 2025 collection show. Held in the courtyard of the National Institute for Deaf Youth, the 45-piece collection, titled Rose, featured micro skirts, drawstring shirts, halter neck dresses, and fine ribbed sweaters.
