When Vincent Moss saw Trishana Russell’s face on his Instagram feed in 2016, he knew immediately that he had to do everything to get her attention.

“I saw her profile on Instagram, and I thought to myself, ‘This is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. I have to meet her’,” Vincent told Island Wedding.

Recalling his persistence, Trishana said, “At first, I kinda didn’t give him much attention because I wasn’t actively dating or anything, not really looking for love per se. But he was persistent and tried messaging me about anything I posted. So if I posted about my cats, he would come into the DMs like ‘so how many cats do you have? I love cats!’”

She continued, “Finally, one night on Twitter (now called ‘X’), I posted something about having a drink, and he slid into my DMs and asked me what my favourite drink was.”

Though he lived in Florida at the time, Vincent was determined to know this girl and soon after flew to Jamaica for their first date.

She explained: “We met at the airport and went straight to the beach. We spent the whole day together splashing around, talking, and just basking in the fact that after a month of anticipation, we could finally be with each other face-to-face. We also talked about how the beach was our happy place and promised we would always go back there if we ever needed a reset. Eight years later, we still sit on the shore every once in a while and talk about our dreams and aspirations.”

With an ocean separating them most of the time, their daily routine involved waking up to a WhatsApp message and falling asleep on a Skype call.

Becoming an official couple on June 25, 2016, it was not long before the three magic words were exchanged.

“I’m pretty sure I said it first,” he said referring to saying ‘I love you’. “There wasn’t a moment that passed that I wasn’t thinking about her or what she was doing. If I wasn’t wondering what she was doing, it’s because we were busy chatting on the phone. Also, being apart felt like torture, and that’s when I realised how strong my feelings actually were for her.”

Chiming in, Trishana said, “I knew I loved Vin when I found myself rushing through my errands so we could hop on the phone and just talk for hours and hours.”

She continued: “Vincent is the type of person who gives 100 per cent to whatever he’s doing. When something is important to him, he is extremely passionate, dependable, and laser-focused. It was the first thing I noticed about him, apart from his hair. He has inspired me in so many ways through his work ethic and drive.”

Moved back to Jamaica

Vincent knew Trishana was the one when he moved back to Jamaica to be with her a year into their relationship, but it took him a few years to build up the nerve to pop the question.

“Trish always told me that she wasn’t a fan of public proposals and preferred a quiet, more intimate setting,” he began recalling the tale. “She’s kinda shy when it comes to these things. And because I knew I couldn’t plan anything too elaborate without her catching on to it, I slipped the engagement ring on her finger while she was sleeping one morning and waited for her to realise. Before I could even ask properly, she said ‘Yes, absolutely’. Not even fully awake. We talked about getting married before and decided we were ready. It was just a matter of when.”

Gliding on cloud nine since that morning, Trishana wasted no time in putting together the wedding she had been dreaming of since she was a girl.

“I think I was a bit of a bridezilla at times, but I think they all forgave me when we realised we created something truly beautiful,” she joked.

The pair were married on June 29, 2024, in a charming backyard ceremony in St Andrew. Both agreed that the exchange of vows was the most moving part for them. Now, they are ready for a whole new set of adventures.

“Having been together for so many years, we’ve seen a lot and been through a lot together, but I’m looking forward to all the new experiences we’re going to have as not just partners, but husband and wife and hopefully, expanding our family in a couple years after we’ve fully enjoyed the honeymoon period,” Mrs Moss said.

Agreeing, Vincent added, “I’m looking forward to the endless adventures, travelling and starting a family together!”
