World of Hyatt Inclusive Collection blends romance, relaxation, and adventure
In Jamaica, the adult-only resorts Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay, Secrets St James Montego Bay and Breathless Montego Resort & Spa and adult-oriented Zoëtry Montego Bay, check the boxes for a blend of relaxation, luxury and fun. And, according to the director of sales, Kaylia Harrison, “each resort has something unique to offer everyone”. Basking in the last few weeks of summer, Harrison highlighted that locals are in for a treat with an ongoing summer special, which offers discounts on existing rates.
SECRETS WILD ORCHID AND SECRETS ST JAMES
Like two peas in a pod, Secrets Wild Orchid and Secrets St James share the same property, and amenities, and set the tone for romance. But, what sets them apart is their distinct vibes. Secrets Wild Orchid buzzes with energy, offering lively day and night parties, games, and water activities, with the casino and Piano Bar a few steps away – best fit for adventurous vacationers. And, for those who can’t get enough of the island’s culture, Fridays bring a belly-full of Jamaica-themed excitement. On the other hand, Secrets St James caters to those seeking a quieter retreat, with the option to dip into the non-stop activities next door whenever the mood strikes.
It’s fitting that Secrets Spa by Pevonia is tucked away in a serene corner of Secrets St James. As you step inside, the natural aroma of peppermint and eucalyptus envelops you, immediately soothing your senses. The on-site salon, separated by glass doors, stands out with bespoke services, including nail, hair, lash, and make-up treatments, along with convenient packages for brides. Local products also take centre stage in the boutique, a nod to #BrandJamaica adding a touch of authenticity. Jaffae Williams, the spa receptionist, shared that non-guests are also welcomed – by appointment – to enjoy a few hours of pampering.
RESTAURANTS
Of the seven à la carte restaurants, Blue Mountain, specialising in Jamaican-Caribbean cuisine, is one of the most tried and talked about. Executive Sous Chef Crystal Napier Evans mentioned that the oxtail with rice and peas is a crowd favourite – a claim confirmed by two sisters from New York, Teresa Patterson Small and Renee Phillips. Staying at Secrets Wild Orchid Preferred Club, they shared with The Sunday Gleaner that the food and staff are what they look forward to the most when returning. Whichever of the four resorts one checks into, access is granted to all of Secrets’ restaurants.
BREATHLESS MONTEGO BAY RESORT & SPA
Upon entering the hotel lobby, you’re greeted by a European-influenced design that pairs abstract art with high ceilings, creating an airy, modern atmosphere. Cabanas line one side, offering a unique twist to the usual lobby experience and opening the atmosphere for people to socialise at the lobby’s bar Wink. Among the artworks adorning the space, the standout pieces are drawings and paintings by Fabian Thomas, a staff member whose contributions add a distinctly personal touch. The rooms cater to a tech-savvy crowd, pushing the envelope of what younger folks might expect. A highlight is the Allure Junior Suite King Tropical View, where the room’s mood can be altered at the touch of a button, automatically adjusting lights and curtains to reveal a stunning view.
ZOËTRY MONTEGO BAY
Zoëtry Montego Bay offers an eco-friendly, boutique getaway with just 49 suites, ensuring an intimate experience. The wide-open lobby design suits solo travellers and couples, creating a zen atmosphere from the moment you arrive. For those seeking the ultimate luxury, the Master Suite – described by sales executive Keniesha Clarke as “equivalent to a presidential suite” – awaits.
A unique touch is the guests’ intentions tree, where you can write down your vacation goals and hang them by a tree on the beach. Complementary cultural immersion classes are offered daily, with local craft vendors teaching skills like bracelet-making, tie-dye, and basket weaving. Saturdays feature a Jamaican craft market on the beachside deck, perfect for purchasing extra souvenirs.
Dog parents will appreciate the property’s single dog-friendly room. And for dining, the premium experience means only à la carte restaurants are on the property with butler access to all.
