The Government says there is a fire raging at a dump in St James, which is operated by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA).

In a Facebook post this morning, Minister with responsibility for Information, Senator Sandrea Falconer, said a fire is now at the Retirement Disposal Site.

She explained that a fire was extinguished last night and another appeared this morning.

And she said the police have intensified their investigations into the cause of the fires.

The authorities have been battling another large fire at the Riverton dump in Kingston since last Wednesday.

The cause of that fire has also not been determined.
