The police say coordinated efforts in the St. Andrew South and the St. James divisions have resulted in the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition yesterday.

In the first incident yesterday morning, a team of officers was on an operation in the Sunderland area of Montego Bay, St. James when they searched unoccupied premises and found 59 rounds of ammunition.

The police say about half hour later, the team moved their operations to Lammie Lane in Salt Spring, where a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun was seized in a yard.

The police say no arrest was made in connection with these seizures.

Later, a team of officers was on an operation in the Rose Heights area when the search of an area revealed 23 nine-millimeter cartridges hidden in a black plastic bag in a sand heap.

Two men were arrested, but the police say their identities are being withheld, pending further investigation.

A third gun was seized on Australia Road in Kingston in the afternoon, when a police party conducted a snap raid in the area.

No arrest was made.
