Cop attempting to rob bar killed by off-duty policeman in Hanover

WESTERN BUREAU:
A man, a police source has identified as a Westmoreland-based policeman, was shot dead by an off-duty cop when he reportedly tried to rob a bar in Hopewell, Hanover, shortly after 1:00 o’clock this morning.

According to reports, the deceased policeman, who was wearing a mask, entered the bar with a gun in hand and started to rob patrons.

He was reportedly challenged by the other policeman, who was a patron in the bar, and a shootout ensued.

When the shooting subsided, the robber lay dead.

A patron and the bartender were injured by bullets, while the cop, who challenged his rogue colleague, was reportedly grazed by two bullets‎.

‎A large crowd is now at the scene, which has been cordoned off by police personnel from Hanover.
