Man drowns at Yallahs beach, body not yet recovered

A 24-year-old man drowned while swimming this morning at the Yallahs Beach in St Thomas.

He is Phillip Rose, a resident of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

Rose was said to be visiting relatives in St Thomas and went for a swim this morning at a about 6:00 o'clock. It is suspected that he got into difficulty due to strong currents.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hopeton Nicholson, of the Yallahs police station says the Jamaica Defence Coast Guard has been contacted and a hunt has been launched by several citizens and fishermen for the body.
