22-year-old UTech student accused of killing brother granted bail

A 22-year-old female student of the University of Technology (UTech) accused of stabbing her brother to death in a dispute over a cable box was granted bail when she appeared in court today.

Sherisa Dixon, a final year student of Portmore, St Catherine was granted bail in the sum of $100,000. 

Her attorney, Peter Champagnie, successfully made the bail application. 

He said the student missed two examinations during her time in jail.

Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks ordered her to surrender her travel documents and report to the Portmore police once per week.

Dixon is charged with the death of her brother Neighton Dixon.

Allegations are that on April 15, the accused was at home with her brother and father when a dispute developed over the use of a cable box.

She was allegedly attacked by the brother who was stabbed in the dispute.

The matter will again be mentioned on July 21 when a postmortem certificate is expected to be submitted.
