A Chinese medical mission is now in the island to provide free health care to hundreds of Jamaicans.

The team will also be donating US$390,000 worth of equipment and supplies to the Ophthalmology Department of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

Starting tomorrow, the ‘Bright Journey’ medical mission will be conducting cataract surgeries and other clinical services at KPH.

The team of six medical doctor and two nurses will be in the island for 10 days and is expected to conduct more than 200 surgeries.

Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson says the mission is another demonstration of the strong partnership between Jamaica and China.
