Courts Optical now in Sav
Courts Optical opened its eighth store in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, and is moving to establish three additional facilities by the end of 2015.
"We have opened our eighth location here at Courts Savanna-la-Mar, and we are looking to open three more locations by the end of this year," said Lilieth Douglas, regional chain manager for Courts Optical. "All our locations so far are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, but Savanna-la-Mar is actually the first to be sporting the newest of its kind in digital equipment."
Unicomer Jamaica Limited, which operates 29 stores nationwide under the Courts brand, established its first Courts Optical facility in November 2012 at Courts Constant Spring Road, offering eye testing and stocking up-market eyewear such as Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess by Marciano, Perry Ellis, Vogue, Ray Ban, Converse, and Extreme - all at varying prices.
These can be purchased on up to 24 months' credit.
With the exception of lenses, which are outsourced to a laboratory, all services are handled in-house. These include frames, contact lenses, and free eye examinations and consultations.
"The reviews we have been getting are tremendous, and people are very pleased to see us offering such an important service as part of our business," said Ann Marie Walters, director of sales for Courts Jamaica.
Ten students from two schools in Savanna-la-Mar - Petersfield Primary School and Cokesview Primary School - received full-service gift packages for free eye testing, prescription lenses and frames.
The Unicomer Group operates more than 700 retail stores in 19 countries in the Americas, 130 of which are located in 11 Caribbean jurisdictions and the United States.
According to Douglas, King Street in Kingston, Mandeville, and Ocho Rios will be the next three facilities.
