Passport rush: Smooth sailing at National Indoor Sports Centre

It has been smooth sailing for officials from the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency and members of the public, who gathered at the National Indoor Sports Centre to renew passports ahead of a fee increase next week.
When The Gleaner/ Power 106 news team arrived at the National Indoor Sports Centre this morning, several persons were seen being guided by PICA officials.
They obtained their tickets and trickled into the arena.
Inside the arena hundreds of persons waited patiently before being attended to.
Provisions appeared to have been made for children, the elderly and persons with special needs.
Several persons with whom our news team spoke with on the outside, pointed out that initially there had been some pushing and shoving when operations began.
However, they say PICA officials quickly stepped in and guided persons to the appropriate places.
Meanwhile, chairman of PICA, Dr Leachim Semaj, who was leaving the arena when contacted, also echoed the sentiments of persons, stating that it had so far been an uneventful morning.

Semaj also pointed out that PICA has been searching for a new home and that operations at the arena enabled the agency to see what having lines for the elderly, persons with special needs and children was like.
