Jamaica should access new markets - Holness
Opposition leader Andrew Holness says it is time for Jamaica to take advantage of northern Caribbean markets.
Speaking on his proposal of a Northern Caribbean Bloc, Holness says Jamaica needs to expand its regional ties and access the markets around it.
The opposition leader says cooperation with the Northern Caribbean is of even greater importance as Cuba comes closer to being integrated into the world market.
Holness laments that the economies surrounding Jamaica are growing and we have not yet tapped into them.
Meanwhile, with the opposition leader’s proposal for a Northern Caribbean bloc, questions have been raised about what this means for CARICOM.
Holness says the relationship with CARICOM should still be maintained but the idea is to focus on strengthening Jamaica.
