Education Ministry identifies 24 schools for closure
The Ministry of Education has identified 24 schools which it wants to close for the upcoming school year.
According to a release from the Ministry, the schools are among several under-populated unviable institutions which have been under surveillance for the past five years.
The ministry says no decision has been made yet regarding the schools.
However, the ministry says the final decision on whether the schools will close is expected to be made by the end of the current school year next week.
In the event of closure, the Education Ministry says it will consult with members of the school community, to include the school board, the Parent-Teacher Association, residents, members of parliament and religious stakeholders.
Following this, the ministry will provide formal notice to the public about the closure of the school
The Education ministry says students and staff at the schools will be placed at institutions close by.
