The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) is reporting success in putting out bush fires which had been raging in East Rural St Andrew since Thursday afternoon.

The JFB divisional head for Kingston and St Andrew, Superintendent Shaun Martin, says the fires were completely extinguished yesterday.

And he says when firefighters went back to the area to check today, the fires were still out.

A 4-bedroom house, a storeroom and several hectares of farm land were destroyed in the latest outbreak of bush fires. So far the value of the losses has not been determined.

Last month, bush fires destroyed millions of dollars worth of coffee plants, as well as livestock.
