Yallahs High meets with parents of attacked boy

School Administrators from the Yallahs High School in St Thomas are meeting with the parents of a boy who was badly beaten by girls at the school recently.

The 13 year old boy had to seek medical treatment after being attacked by four girls - three 14-years-old and and one 15-year-old - in an incident caught on video that's gone viral.

Education minister Ronald Thwaites has called the attack a disgrace.

Meanwhile, Children’s Advocate Dianne Gordon Harrison says the problem of bullying in schools varies from institution to institution.

The Children's Advocate also says the students who watched the beating and did nothing to intervene reflect a wider problem in society.

Sources say the attack started when the boy was walking through a classroom doorway when one of the girls pulled him back and his drink spilled onto her uniform.

The boy went to sit when two girls approached him with one reportedly using her uniform to wipe his face.

He reportedly pushed her away and that is when he was set upon by the four girls and beaten.

The boy who hasn’t been back to school since the incident has missed some of his end of year exams and says he doesn’t want to go back to school.
