A woman and her daughter are now dead after a gunman barged into their home in Westmoreland last night.

The incident occurred at a house on Station Road in Little London.

Dead are 53-year-old domestic helper, Rose Murray and her 25-year-old daughter Latoya Daley, otherwise known as 'Toya', who was also a domestic helper.

According to the police at about ten last night, Murray was at home watching television with her common-law husband , when a man entered their home brandishing a handgun.

The man reportedly asked the couple for Latoya and was told she was not at home.

It's understood that the man insisted on waiting.

Upon Daley's arrival, the man reportedly took her aside and began talking to her.

However, explosions were heard a short while after.

The police were summoned, and both Murray and her daughter were found in the living room in pools of blood.

Murray's common-law husband was not harmed but the gunman reportedly stole a sum of money and a cell phone.

No motive has yet been determined, as the police are still carrying out their investigations.

At least six persons have been killed in Westmoreland since the start of the week.

On Sunday afternoon, four persons including two teenagers were shot and killed by gunmen as they played a video game in Whithorn.
