Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams this morning quipped that termites have been holding together the Old Hope Road headquarters of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

Williams was speaking after gaming company, Supreme Ventures Limited, donated $5 million towards a major project to build a new police headquarter‎s.

The project is expected to be completed later this year.

According to Williams, the new police headquarters is part of a wider plan to improve working conditions for the men and women of the force.

Williams also says the new 14,000-square foot building being erected on lands adjacent to the current police headquarters will save taxpayers millions of dollars in rental costs.

He says the current JCF headquarters has been condemned by health authorities since 1980.
