Deceased cop Lynden Barrett.

Assistant Commissioner Ealan Powell has revealed that Constable Lynden Barrett  was killed after members of the Strikers’ Gang were tipped off that he was in the Denham Town community.

The new information comes as the Police High Command continues to deny claims by residents that the policeman was killed by his colleagues.

According to Powell, Barrett was on duty when he went to visit a premises in the west Kingston community.

He says the Constable was recognised by residents who telephoned the gang members.

Powell also says Barrett's murder was part of a plan by members of the Strikers Gang to slay four cops in reprisal for the police killing of their leader.
