Vendor killed as JUTC bus crashes into building downtown Kingston

A vendor was this morning killed and other people injured when a state-owned bus crashed into a building in West Parade in the vicinity of Orange Street in downtown Kingston.

The identity of the vendor has not yet been ascertained and the number of injuries has not been ascertained.

Eyewitnesses say the driver of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus appeared to be having difficulty steering the vehicle before it struck the vendor then ploughed into the shutter of a building adjacent to a restaurant.

The incident resulted in a traffic pile-up in the capital city.
