Police detain 166 men on ‘Back Road’ in pre-dawn operation

The police say 166 men were detained this morning during a joint police-military operation along the Port Henderson main road, commonly known as ‘Back Road’ in Portmore, St Catherine.

Nearly 200 men were detained this morning during a joint police-military operation along the Port Henderson main road, commonly known as ‘Back Road’ in Portmore, St Catherine.

The police say the focus of the pre-dawn operations was on human trafficking, lottery scamming, illegal firearms and dangerous drugs.

The Port Henderson main road is home to a number of strip clubs and places offering massage services.

The police say during the operation 14 offensive weapons and two motor vehicles were seized and that 200 women were interviewed.

The police say 166 males were detained for further questioning, including four children who were taken into custody by the Centres for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.
