1 dead, 11 homeless after fire in Ocho Rios

A post-mortem is to be performed on the body of a man whose charred remains were discovered in a house in Buckfield, Ocho Rios, that the St Ann police believe was intentionally set ablaze Wednesday night.

The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Warren Williams.

The police report that residents saw smoke coming from a section of the house around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and called the fire brigade and the police.

However, the house was destroyed by the time the fire unit reached the scene.

Williams' charred body was discovered after the blaze was eventually extinguished.

The Gleaner understands that 11 persons have been left homeless as a result of the fire.

The police are investigating the incident.
