JLP tight-lipped on upcoming meeting with Tufton

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) secretariat is tight-lipped on its upcoming meeting with Dr Chirstopher Tufton who has made claims of irregularities in the West Central St Catherine candidate selection exercise two Saturdays ago. 

When The Gleaner-Power 106 news spoke with JLP General Secretary Dr Horace Chang this morning, he declined to respond, indicating that more would be said after the meeting.   

Tufton had written to the party's general secretary, Dr Horace Chang, claiming at least eight instances where his opponent, JLP Councillor Devon Wint, had an unfair advantage.

Tufton, who is a former agriculture and commerce minister, lost the opportunity to represent the constituency in the next general elections by 15 votes to Wint in a run off on September 26. The selection had been delayed several times before it was finally held last weekend.

Tufton is contending that he won the selection by at least five votes. He is alleging that Wint's team engaged in vote-buying, noting that there were people on the voters' list but who were never party workers.
