CCJ debate to begin in Senate today

Published:Friday | October 16, 2015 | 12:00 AM

The Senate is today expected to begin debate on three bills to replace the United Kingdom-based Privy Council with the Caribbean Court of Jamaica (CCJ).

The CCJ bills have already been passed by the House of Representatives.

The laws require a two-thirds majority to be passed in the Senate.

This means all 13 government senators and at least one opposition senator would have to vote in favour of the bills.
