Cover the name of disputed candidate, vote for the bell - Pearnel Charles

It was a spirited Pearnel Charles who took to the platform at a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) mass meeting in the Clarendon capital of May Pen Sunday evening.

Charles, the Member of Parliament for North Central Clarendon, told Labourites that if the JLP were to win the impending election, more people would get the opportunity to benefit from the overseas farm work programme.

But it was his comment about voting that elicited the loudest reaction.

With unease in some constituencies over the proposed candidates for the impending general election, Charles told voters that if they had an issue with their candidate, when they go to vote, they should cover the name on the ballot paper and put their 'X' beside the bell.

The bell is the symbol of the Jamaica Labour Party.

Charles' comment has been evoking ridicule on social media.
