Jamaican doctor saves Swiss man after heart attack onboard airline in MoBay
The quick action of a Jamaican physician onboard an American Airlines flight at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, this morning saved the life of an elderly passenger who suffered a major heart attack.
The 69-year-old man, who is from Switzerland, is now being treated at the Hospiten Hospital in the parish.
He’s to be airlifted to a medical facility in Miami in the United States later today for further treatment.
While the doctor worked to save the life of the man, the health services were called.
However, it took more than 25 minutes for them to respond to the emergency.
The doctor reportedly used the plane’s defibrillator to stabilise the man.
It is reported that the man was seating beside his wife when she noticed that he had slumped over in his seat.
The couple had been on a two-week vacation and was heading home in Switzerland via Miami.
