More shopping space for vendors in St Ann this Christmas
Vendors plying their wares in St Ann's Bay and Ocho Rios, St Ann, this Christmas season are to benefit from additional space to do business.
Mayor of St Ann's Bay Desmond Gilmore said the parish council would allow vending along a section of Main Street on Christmas Eve.
"We will close off the section between the clock and the police station, along Main Street, and also along Musgrave Street, from the clock heading towards the sea, and allow vendors to occupy these spaces," Gilmore said.
In Ocho Rios, vendors will be able to use Market Street, which is located between Mother's Restaurant (Rexo Plaza), and the market.
"They will be able to use all that section of road, stretching from Main Street, beside Mother's, up to the transport centre," the mayor pointed out.
ONLY FOR CHRISTMAS
"This is only for Christmas Eve, and vending will not be allowed on any other street."
The mayor said the council would be meeting with the police to initiate plans to maintain law and order throughout the period.
Meanwhile, traffic changes implemented each Christmas season in major towns in St Ann will take effect today, according to a release from the council.
The capital, St Ann's Bay, along with Ocho Rios and Brown's Town, will all see temporary changes to traffic flow.
