St Elizabeth police charge St James men in gun, ammo find

Four men have been charged by the Maggotty Police in St Elizabeth in connection with the seizure of a Taurus 9 millimetre pistol along with a magazine and 231 cartridges.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are 35-year-old Conroy Robinson of Anchovy, 31-year-old Ricardo Clennon of a Retreat address, 39-year-old Jamel Clarke of Catadupa and 37-year-old Lewis Robinson of Mocho, all in St James.

The police say the seizure was made yesterday.

They say a police team was conducting a vehicular checkpoint at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon when they signalled the driver of a motor vehicle to stop.

The vehicle and its occupants were searched and the weapon along with the ammunition was discovered in the vehicle.

The police say the men are scheduled to appear before the Black River Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, December 23.
