Trade unionist Lloyd Goodleigh is dead

Decorated trade unionist Lloyd Goodleigh is dead.

He passed away this morning at the Andrews Memorial Hospital where he had been recovering from a recent operation.

Goodleigh is a former President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU) and General Secretary of the National Workers Union (NWU).

He also headed the Secretariat for the new Labour Market Reform Commission and president of the Caribbean Congress of Labour.

Goodleigh is the fourth trade unionist to have died since the start of the year.

The NWU's Clive Dobson and Roosevelt Turner, as well as Trade Union Congress Head Hopeton Caven, all passed away recently.
