The Aura Lounge at Couples Swept Away Resorts was a picture of elegance for the Negril Chamber of Commerce's annual gala dinner last Saturday. Stakeholders in the popular tourist resort took a break from the busy winter tourist season to celebrate 32 years of existence.

The dinner was preceded by a cocktail reception where special guests, local business interests and their supporters had the time of their lives as they shared, networked or simply exchanged pleasantries.

The facility was filled to capacity, with many guests trying to outbid each other in the silent auction.

Guest speaker Ambassador Paola Amadei, head of the delegation of the European Union (EU) in Jamaica, was an appropriate choice, and underscored the long-standing relationship between the EU and the community of Negril. Several major projects in that town are endorsed and funded by Amadei and her predecessors.

The Negril Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1983 with a mission to facilitate sustainable economic development in Negril, in the interest of its members and the wider community, through the development of projects, protection and improvement of the tourism product, as well as the promotion of Negril as a tourism and investment location.
