The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) plans to recruit more than 1,000 police personnel this year.

Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams, who made the announcement, says 326 recruits are already in training and the plan is to enlist another 400 by May.

And he says the JCF could enlist another 400 recruits by the end of the year.

According to Williams, the JCF has an establishment of just over 14,000 police officers, but now has a compliment of just over 12,000 members.
