'I don't know her, but I'm still voting'

"Even though I don't see her, we still voting for her," were the words of Selvin Bingham pledging to support the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) Marlene Malahoo Forte, despite claiming that the St James West Central candidate has been scarce in Mt Salem.

The Western Bureau, which caught up with the 64-year-old outside his home on Francis Isabella Road following voting, noted that Malahoo Forte would have had a hard fight against the People's National Party's (PNP) candidate Sharon Ffolkes-Abrahams in the constituency.

"The lady I vote for have a hard fight because some of the people them don't see her," said the retired plumber, who is also known as 'Rat'.

DEFINITE WINNER

Despite this belief, however, Bingham maintained that his party would be the definite winner, not only in the constituency but throughout the entire island.

"I know that she a go fight and win it. She have the whole a Bogue, Moy Hall, Catherine Hall, and the other areas, too. So we sure say Labourite a go win; and me nuh mean just win suh, but win the prime minister seat," Bingham predicted.

He also stated he was born into a PNP family, but when he became eligible to vote he changed party, influencing his entire family to follow suit.

"All my friends are PNP, but me a [diehard] Labourite and nobody can tell me fi change. If a the last breath me affi blow and fi go vote, me a vote JLP," he added.
