The police say there are approximately 23 unclaimed bodies at various stages of decomposition at the Spanish Town funeral home, on Young Street.

The St Catherine North Police are appealing for members of the public to come forward and claim several decomposing bodies left at a funeral home, which has now ceased operation.

The police say there are approximately 23 unclaimed bodies at various stages of decomposition at the Spanish Town funeral home, on Young Street.

They say the bodies were left there between 2013 and 2015, but no records are available to identify them.

The police say they urgently need help to identify the bodies as they pose a public health concern.

They explain that the electricity and other utilities to the premises have been disconnected following the sale of the property to a new owner.

They want members of the public who may have taken loved ones to the funeral home to come forward and claim the bodies, so they can be disposed of properly.
