Education minister says he is ready

Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator Ruel Reid, says that he is ready to take charge of the portfolio given to him by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
"I am very delighted to be given the opportunity to steer this important ship at a time when all of us want to see education move forward. I have been given the baton to add my own value to how we can position the Ministry of Education," he said.
The minister was speaking at a welcomed reception with heads of departments at the ministry, located at National Heroes Circle in Kingston, on Tuesday.
Reid along with the state minister Floyd Green were congratulated on their new appointments.
Reid impressed upon ministry officials the importance of team work and the importance he places on staff welfare.
"I look forward to us working together to enhance the development of our country," he told them.
For his part, the state minister said, that he was pleased to be serving in the ministry, citing the identifiable synergies that exist among the areas.
"I am very happy to be working with the team. I know that we're at a stage where we have been positioned to move Jamaica. I am looking forward to it," he told ministry officials.
