Speaking at the Jamaica House post-Cabinet press briefing yesterday, Reid said the Education Ministry had contacted the CXC in a bid to allay the concerns.

Minister of Education Ruel Reid says students sitting Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) external exams will be provided with extra answer sheets, if they need them.

There had been public concern following an announcement by CXC that it would stop giving extra answer sheets to students sitting the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination.

Speaking at the Jamaica House post-Cabinet press briefing yesterday, Reid said the Education Ministry had contacted the CXC in a bid to allay the concerns.

He is seeking to assure the public that CXC will be working to ensure extra paper is provided, in case students require it.

CXC had maintained that it had done adequate research and was confident that the space provided in its new answer booklet provides adequate space for expected responses.

The new policy regarding extra answer booklets will reportedly make CXC's Electronic marking process easier as fewer papers will need to be scanned.
