Transport Authority moves to clear PPV licences backlog
The Transport Authority is promising to move swiftly to reduce the backlog in the issuing of road licences for public passenger vehicles (PPV).
Director Of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry of Transport, Vando Palmer, says since the change of administration and subsequent dissolving of the board of the Authority, public passenger vehicle owners have not been granted new road licenses.
However, he says the new board, led by Joseph Shoucair, will meet today for the first time and critical on the agenda is the nomination of persons to the Licensing Committee.
Palmer explains that nomination of committee members will fast track the meeting of the committee to consider new applications for road licenses.
He says there is currently a backlog and the committee will be working to clear it in the shortest possible time.
