Residents and staff of the St Catherine Infirmary on Monk Street, Spanish Town, have benefited from the donation of 20 wheelchairs.

The chairs will enhance the movement of residents who depend on the chairs for movement assistance. The gift is estimated at more than $500,000 and was presented on June 23.

Making the presentation, Norman Scott, chairman of the St Catherine Parish Council, implored the administration of the infirmary to care them.

"These chairs will ease the inconvenience residents suffer," Scott said. He thanked the 70 staff who work under trying circumstances to assist those under their care daily.
